Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
