Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
