Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
