Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
