Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn 1 And ten nights, 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 and spread much corruption in the land. 12 Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. 13 indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 And love wealth with all your heart. 20 Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 So on that day, no one punishes like He does! 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 enter, then, together with My [other true] servants 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
