1/2 Hizb 33

۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
