Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 by the even, and the odd, 3 The night as it advances, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 and brought about great corruption therein: 12 Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements: 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 No! But when the earth quakes and is pounded, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: 28 Enter among My servants 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
