Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
