Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily, We have created man into [a life of] pain, toil and trial. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Deemest he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 of an orphaned relative 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
