Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 of an orphaned relative 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
