The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
