Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
