Al-Balad

The Town (Al-Balad)

20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he would not try to ascend the steep uphill road... 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
