Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 in which you are now living 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son! 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
