The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 an orphaned relative 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
