The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
