The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
