The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
