The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
