The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
