The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
