The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
