The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
