The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
