The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
