Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
