The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
