The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
