The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
