When you set out at dawn from your home to assign battle positions to the believers -- God hears all and knows all. 121 when two groups from among you were about to lose heart, although God was near unto them and it is in God that the believers must place their trust: 122 Allah indeed aided you at Badr when you had no means; so fear Allah – so that you may be thankful. 123 Also, remember when you said to the believers, "Is it not enough that your Lord is helping you with a force of three thousand angels sent (from the heavens)?" 124 Certainly, if you have patience and piety, even if the enemy attacks immediately after this, God will help you with another force of five thousand angels, all splendidly (and or distinctly marked) dressed. 125 Allah ordained this only as a message of good cheer for you, and that thereby your hearts might be at rest - Victory cometh only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise - 126 and so that He might cut off a portion of those who are bent on denying the truth or abase them so that they might be turned back frustrated. 127 No part of the matter is yours whether He turns towards them or punishes them. They are harmdoers. 128 And to Allah only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and all whatever is in the earth; He may forgive whomever He wills, and punish whomever He wills; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful. 129
