And [remember] when you, [O Muhammad], left your family in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle [of Uhud] - and Allah is Hearing and Knowing - 121 When two parties from among you had determined that they should show cowardice, and Allah was the guardian of them both, and in Allah should the believers trust. 122 for, indeed, God did succour you at Badr, when you were utterly weak. Remain, then, conscious of God, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 123 [And remember] when you said to the believers, "Does it not suffice that your Lord helps you by sending down three thousand angels? 124 Certainly, if you have patience and piety, even if the enemy attacks immediately after this, God will help you with another force of five thousand angels, all splendidly (and or distinctly marked) dressed. 125 And God did not do so but as good tidings for you, and to reassure your hearts for victory comes from God alone, the all-mighty and all-wise -- 126 and so that He might cut off a portion of those who are bent on denying the truth or abase them so that they might be turned back frustrated. 127 You have no concern in the affair whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them, for surely they are unjust. 128 Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He forgiveth whom He will, and punisheth whom He will. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
