The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
