The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
