The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
