The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
