In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 when heaven shall be split 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Those who take heed for themselves and fear God, will be amidst shade and springs of water, 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 37 'This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
