The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
