Those among the Descendants of Israel who turned disbelievers were cursed by the tongue of Dawud, and of Eisa the son of Maryam; it was because of their disobedience and their rebellion. 78 They did not forbid each other from committing the abominable deeds they committed. Indeed what they did was evil. 79 Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the Unbelievers. Evil indeed are (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result), that Allah's wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide. 80 If they had believed in God and the Prophet and what had been revealed to him, they would never have held them as allies; and many among them are transgressors. 81 ۞ You find Jews and pagans among the worst of the enemies of the believers. (Of the non-believers) nearest to them (the believers) in affection you find those who say, "We are Christians," for among them are the priests and monks who are not proud. 82 And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger you see that their eyes overflow with tears because of the Truth that they recognize and they say: 'Our Lord! We do believe; write us down, therefore, with those who bear witness (to the Truth). 83 And what (reason) have we that we should not believe in Allah and in the truth that has come to us, while we earnestly desire that our Lord should cause us to enter with the good people? 84 And for their words God will reward them with Gardens through which rivers flow, wherein they shall abide forever. That is the reward of those who do good. 85 But those who reject Faith and belie our Signs,- they shall be companions of Hell-fire. 86
