Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord. 1 He it is created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His presence another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves! 2 He is God of the heavens and the earth and He knows whatever you conceal, reveal, or gain. 3 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord but that therefrom they have been backsliders. 4 And they denied the truth when it came unto them. But there will come unto them the tidings of that which they used to deride. 5 Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them? We established them on the earth more firmly than you, and We sent the clouds over them, pouring down abundant rain; and made the rivers flow at their feet. Yet We destroyed them for their sins, and raised up other generations after them. 6 Had We sent down on thee a Book on parchment and so they touched it with their hands, yet the unbelievers would have said, 'This is naught but manifest sorcery.' 7 And they say: Why has not an angel been sent down to him? And had We sent down an angel, the matter would have certainly been decided and then they would not have been respited. 8 If We had made it an angel, We should have sent him as a man, and We should certainly have caused them confusion in a matter which they have already covered with confusion. 9 Messengers have been mocked before you, but those who scoffed were overtaken by the very thing they scoffed at. 10
