(Muhammad), tell them to travel in the land and see what happened to those who rejected the Truth. 11 Ask thern: 'To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and on the earth?' Say: 'Everything belongs to Allah.' He has bound Himself to the exercise of mercy (and thus does not chastise you for your disobedience and excesses instantly). Surely He will gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection - the coming of which is beyond doubt; but those who have courted their own ruin are not going to believe. 12 ۞ His is whatsoever dwelleth in the night and the day; and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 13 Say: "Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah." 14 Say: 'Surely do I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the chastisement of an awesome Day. 15 He from whom (such retribution) is averted on that day, (Allah) hath in truth had mercy on him. That will be the signal triumph. 16 And if Allah afflicts you with some misfortune, then there is none who can remove it, except Him; and if He sends you some good fortune, then (know that) He is Able to do all things. 17 It is He who prevails over His creatures, and He is all-wise and aware. 18 Say: What thing is the weightiest in testimony? Say: Allah is witness between you and me; and this Quran has been revealed to me that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. Do you really bear witness that there are other gods with Allah? Say: I do not bear witness. Say: He is only one Allah, and surely I am clear of that which you set up (with Him). 19 Those whom We have vouchsafed the Book recognise him even as they recognise their own children. Yet those who have lost themselves will not believe. 20
