A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 Then We will surely question those to whom were the messengers sent, and We will surely question the sent ones. 6 and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
