A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 And when Our Might fell upon them they only said: 'We have indeed been harmdoers' 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
