Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 Then We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: "Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity, etc.)." So We seized them of a sudden while they were unaware. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 What! do the people of the towns then feel secure from Our punishment coming to them by night while they sleep? 97 Or else did they feel secure against its coming in broad daylight while they played about (care-free)? 98 Can they remain secure against the plan of God? Only they feel secure against the plan of God who are certain of being ruined. 99
