The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
