He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
