Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us.
