But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds. 83 And Musa said: my people! if ye have been believing in Allah, then on Him rely, if ye are muslims. 84 They said, "In God we put our trust. Our Lord, make us not a trial [the subject of persecution] for the oppressors. 85 "And deliver us by Thy Mercy from those who reject (Thee)." 86 We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: "Provide dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!" 87 And Musa said: Our Lord! surely Thou hast given to Firon and his chiefs finery and riches in this world's life, to this end, our Lord, that they lead (people) astray from Thy way: Our Lord! destroy their riches and harden their hearts so that they believe not until they see the painful punishment. 88 He said, 'Your prayer is answered; so go you straight, and follow not the way of those that know not.' 89 ۞ And We brought the Children of Israel over the sea; and Pharaoh and his hosts followed them insolently and impetuously till, when the drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that there is no god but He in whom the Children of Israel believe; I am of those that surrender.' 90 (Thereupon came the response): 'Now you believe, although you disobeyed earlier and were one of the mischief-makers. 91 But We will this day deliver you with your body that you may be a sign to those after you, and most surely the majority of the people are heedless to Our communications. 92
