But none believed in Musa except the offspring of his people, on account of the fear of Firon and their chiefs, lest he should persecute them; and most surely Firon was lofty in the land; and most surely he was of the extravagant. 83 And Moses said: O my people! If ye have believed in Allah then put trust in Him, if ye have indeed surrendered (unto Him)! 84 So they said, "Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people 85 And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people." 86 And We Revealed unto Musa and his brother: inhabit houses for your people in Misr, and make your houses a place of Worship, and establish prayer, and give glad tidings to the believers. 87 And Musa said: Our Lord! surely Thou hast given to Firon and his chiefs finery and riches in this world's life, to this end, our Lord, that they lead (people) astray from Thy way: Our Lord! destroy their riches and harden their hearts so that they believe not until they see the painful punishment. 88 Allah responded: 'The prayer of the two of you is accepted. So keep steadfast, and do not follow the path of the ignorant. 89 ۞ And We made the children of Israel to pass through the sea, then Firon and his hosts followed them for oppression and tyranny; until when drowning overtook him, he said: I believe that there is no god but He in Whom the children of Israel believe and I am of those who submit. 90 (Thereupon came the response): 'Now you believe, although you disobeyed earlier and were one of the mischief-makers. 91 So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless 92
