The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 This is The Book free of doubt and involution, a guidance for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, 2 Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, 3 Who believe in that which has been sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad) and what has been sent down before you (to Prophets Jesus and Moses) and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. 4 They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful. 5 Those who disbelieve, whether you forewarn them or not, they will not believe. 6 God has sealed their hearts and ears, and veiled their eyes. For them is great deprivation. 7
