AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
